FAQs

How do I get started?

1

Get in touch via the form at the bottom of the homepage, email: secretaryBHMC@gmail.com, DM us on one of the socials, or show up to one of our meetings in Worksop. Usually monthly, usually the first Wednesday of the month (with some exceptions generally in high summer, please check the program).

Do I need to be super-experienced to join?

2

Absolutely not! You just have to be keen to get outdoors. We’ve got a wide range of abilities and experience at the club. And if you’re not that experienced or kitted out, there’ll always be someone willing to show you the ropes or lend you some kit.

Can under-18s join?

3

At this time (January 2026) the club only accepts under 18s on it’s events if they are accompanied by a parent or guardian.

How much does it cost?

4

Membership for 2026 is £37, with the vast majority of this going to the British Mountaineering Council. This grants you third party insurance whilst on Club events, discount at some stores and climbing walls, and a Summit magazine. The BMC fights for the access rights of walkers and mountaineers across the UK.

Membership gives you free access to regular walks and evening meetings (including slideshows, talks etc by members or friends of the Club), the knowledge of Club members, and often car-shares to the mountainous areas. Hut weekends involve a small fee, currently around £25 for a weekend in some fantastic locations.
